Apply

The PhD Program matriculates new students in the autumn quarter only. There is no part-time or weekend option in the PhD program. Applications have to be in the PhD Program Office by January 1 of each year for matriculation in September. 


Application Materials
To apply, you will need to complete and submit:

  1. Application for admission
  2. Non-refundable application fee ($65)
  3. Official GMAT or GRE scores (depending upon the dissertation area you are applying too)
  4. Official TOEFL/IELTS scores (international applicants only)
  5. Official transcripts from all institutions attended after high school
  6. Two letters of reference
  7. Resume
  8. Essay

If possible, please submit all these materials together, except the GMAT or GRE (and, if applicable, TOEFL/IELTS) scores. Applications that are incomplete at the deadline date will not be considered for admission.

John Birge was dean of Northwestern's McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science before joining the Chicago GSB faculty in 2004.
